Mondo’s A Tradition since 1979
Having worked as a butcher in Australia since 1965
a young man with a vision decided to open his own
store in 1979. Vince Garreffa was a keen student
and had learnt all he could in butchering and sought
the challenge of combining his skills and knowledge
with operating his own business. Having found a
location in Midland, Mondo Di Carne or World of
Meat when translated, was born.
Vince and his wife Anne worked long and hard to
build the business. Mondo Di Carne grew rapidly,
becoming affectionately known as Mondo’s and established
a reputation for quality retail and wholesale meats.
Mondo’s expansion into wholesale was for its ability
in filling the void for chefs by being able to supply
products to restaurants that were once considered
impossible. It is this passion for "meating"
the demands of their customers however large or
small that sets Mondo’s apart from their competitors.
Mondo’s has since moved to a more central location
on Beaufort Street in Inglewood which is 5 minutes
form Perth’s CBD. What used to be the Hunsa Factory
has undergone extensive renovations into now Australia's
largest and most celibrated gourmet Butcher shop.
Change is ongoing, but what Mondo’s will not change
